Pottery Hand Building | Book Ends - June 18th (Thursday) 6pm-8pm
In this one-off class, you'll hand-build a pair of ceramic bookends.
What you'll learn You'll learn the basics of hand-building, including how to condition clay, form solid, stable bases, and construct two matching pieces that will hold their shape through the kiln. Your instructor will guide you through building the structure, adding detail and character, and ensuring your bookends are weighted and balanced to do their job. You'll also learn how surface choices, from smoothing to texture, affect the finished look of your pieces.
What's included All clay and tools are included. Once your pieces have been fired, you're invited to our monthly group glazing session to finish and personalize your bookends. You'll be notified when your glazed pieces are ready for pickup, or you can arrange shipping during class.
Who this is for Anyone who wants to make something functional and handmade in an afternoon. No sculpting or pottery experience required.
What to Wear
Wear clothing and shoes you're comfortable getting clay and water on. Aprons are provided, but clay has a way of finding everything anyway.

Completing any pottery class makes you eligible to join The MixMatch as a studio member, giving you access to our wheels, tools, and kiln time on your own schedule. It's the natural next step for anyone who wants to keep building their skills between classes. Ask your instructor or the front desk for details on how to get started.
Additional Information: Some workshops may involve heat, sharp tools, or other specialty materials, so participants must be 18 or older unless the class notes otherwise.Classes have limited availability. If a session is full, you can join the waitlist, but openings are not guaranteed.Tickets cannot be refunded, canceled, or rescheduled. We have a 30-day return policy on retail products (not classes, workshops, or events), which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. Made-to-order items are not eligible for returns.
